Greek Mythology:Greek mythology is not only interesting, but it is also the foundation of allusion and character genesis in literature. In this lesson plan, students will gain an understanding of Greek mythology and the Olympian gods and goddesses.

Art: Intermediate art will be a fun exploration into studying and making our own versions of art work like Van Gogh, Picasso, and Monet. We will also do other projects that use mediums like chalk, sea glass, shells, yarn, foil, and watercolor to create beautiful pieces of art.

PE: In PE we will learn about different sports and activities to be good stewards of our bodies. We will work to exhibit about good sportsmanship, fair play, and safe competition. We will strive have fun, exercise, and encourage each other to do and be our best.

3rd hour: 11:25-12:20
Intro to Debate: Inspired by the renowned children’s podcast Smash Boom Best, this debate class takes interesting topics, pits them against each other, and allows their peers to decide which topic is best. Students will first learn what debate is. Then, they will discover how to research topics and create fact based arguments. Following this, students will learn the art of persuasion, adding to their debate arsenal. Lastly, students will debate fun and exciting topics.
This debate class will encourage abstract and analytical thinking skills while teaching students to view and express ideas clearly with researched and reasoned arguments. Students will strengthen their public speaking skills, improve teamwork skills, discover ways to be persuasive in their arguments, and learn how to defend their own thoughts and opinions. Students will learn the art of questioning and cross examinations and gain new perspectives by having their points of view challenged and attain a better understanding of debate.
*This class will have a syllabus and required homework beginning on Week 4.

Outdoor Adventure:Learn the ins and outs of outdoor fun with rock climbing 101 rigging, knots, emergency rappel, tying in, setting camp, fresh water safety, and more.
