Simple Cooking: This class will allow students to prepare simple and easy recipes in a hands on approach. Students will prepare several meal and dessert items. No previous cooking experience is required.

Intro to Algebra: Take the fear out of Algebra! This class will tackle basic algebraic principles and break them down for the students so that they can face them without fear. Work will be done in class, with very minimal amount of work to be done at home. Students should have a good, working ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with relative ease.

**8th grade only!**Health I: THIS IS A “FOR CREDIT” CLASS! In order to receive the ½ credit needed for GA HS requirements, all required work must be satisfactorily completed. Textbooks will be LifePac series from www.aop.com High School Health Set Units 1-5 (EL9701-9705, approx $40 or less) and must be purchased separately before the start of class. First assignment will be given after registration and will be due the first day of class. Class will consist of reinforcement and deeper discussion of content learned in the unit studies, discussion and review of worksheet answers, and games and reviews for the test. Tests will be assigned and graded. (Unit books may be purchased from any website that offers them as long as they are unused and blanks are not completed). (In GA, certain classes are acceptable for HS credit beginning in 8th grade).

Botany: This class will be full of activity, games and labs to aid us in the study of plants down to the cellular level. Learn about structure, properties, biochemical processes, classification and more!

Art Lab II: Meet the Artist! Learn about great artists from the Renaissance, Boroque, Romantic, Impressionist, Expressionist, and Modern Art eras. Each week meet a new artist with a small biograpy highlighting the artist's life and works. Then complete a fun art study lesson recreating your own version of the artist' work. Get ready to paint, draw, sculpt, photograph, and create!

Mission's Geography: We will be studying different countries, cultures and the missionaries that serve there. We will find a mission and help work in some way to serve them.

PE: PE class will be a combination of fitness & games. About half of the class will be exercises, increasing endurance and fitness routine, and the other half of the class will be playing typical PE style games – following the rules. Students will be required to wear athletic shoes each week, and will be required to participate in ALL aspects of the class.

Holocaust Literature: This class will cover The Diary of Anne Frank, Number the Stars, and The Hiding Place. We will discuss events surrounding World War II and the Holocaust. This class will require outside reading and assignments. Students will be required to purchase the 3 books that will be used. There will be a field trip to the Holocaust Museum at Kennesaw.

Public Speaking: We will be preparing and giving presentations, evaluating speeches, and experiencing impromptu communication. Everyone will have a speech workbook to complete as we conquer any fears of speaking and prepare for college or the work force. There is a possibility of a field trip. All students are expected to participate fully in class and assignments.
