The Preschool class at CHAT will offer many learning opportunities. First and foremost, students are encouraged to play and interact with friends! The first hour is filled with educational and sensory type centers that are inspired by the letter of the week. The preschool class will cover all 26 letters as well as colors and numbers. The second hour we say our prayers, eat a yummy snack, and then have some active outside time. Third hour consists of creative craft time as well as ending with some music and movement activities. Preschool students will leave class full of fun experiences and memories!

Painting Through History
Travel through history by exploring pivotal art movements from ancient times all the way to modern conceptual art. Each art movement has its own distinct styles and characteristics that reflect the political and social influences of the historical period it encompasses. Students will learn the history, key artists, and charming characteristics of each movement and then be able to produce their very own work of art that reflects that genre. Be prepared to visually travel through time.

Mystery Drama
Join us as we learn a little about what it takes to be in a theater production and how to develop a stage presence. We may learn a song and dance if time allows. The students will recieve a script and a T-shirt, and they will perform a 15-30 min production (show TBD) as an “appetizer” at our Middle/High Mystery Dinner Theater. (title of the evening TBD) They will perform 2-3 times (days and times to be determined). This class MAY require a couple practices AFTER chat and WILL require a 3 day “mini Crunch” for the students to perform on the actual stage and get a feel for the performance space and audience. I Love Cooking

In this class we will learn fundamental cooking techniques, recipes, and culinary skills. Each class will focus on essential skills and are designed to build confidence in the kitchen. We will learn the differences between a filet knife and cleaver and bread knife. Other skills will be : how to adjust measurements, making substitutions, how to saute vs frying and so much more. It will be a fun time as we learn how to make delicious meals and develop a love for cooking.

In this class we will learn fundamental cooking techniques, recipes, and culinary skills. Each class will focus on essential skills and are designed to build confidence in the kitchen. We will learn the differences between a filet knife and cleaver and bread knife. Other skills will be : how to adjust measurements, making substitutions, how to saute vs frying and so much more. It will be a fun time as we learn how to make delicious meals and develop a love for cooking.

American Sign Language (ASL)

This class introduces students to the basics of American Sign Language, including vocabulary, grammar, fingerspelling and cultural aspects of the Deaf Community to enable basic communication skills using ASL.
This class is open to middle school, but is also designed to be used as a for-credit class to satisfy high school foreign language requirements.

Often times history is studied regionally and we do not get a big picture of what is going on in the world at the exact same time. The year 1000BC marks a pivotal period in human history, witnessing the rise of urban civilizations and emergence of key religious and cultural developments. Students will gain a snapshot view of the world and create hands on historical experiences in this class.

They will be guided through the process step by step using the textbook Staging an Interactive Mystery Play by Justine Jones and Mary Ann Kelly. Students will receive a script that they write, and a t-shirt. Students will learn how to do physical comedy, interact with an audience, and how to stay incharacter. They will perform a 1 hour mystery show during a meal (show TBD) with 2-3 performances on the same days and times as the intermediate class. This will be “ A Night of Mystery” (Title subject to change). Dates and times of performances TBD. This class WILL have some after chat rehearsals and WILL require a 2 week Crunch/Tech practice (We will have at least 3 practices each of the 2 weeks and then the shows). Crunch dates and times are TBD.
**All students are required to participate in brainstorming and creating/producing the show, but NOT everyone has to write the script. There will be parameters the students will have to stay within, and ALL aspects of this show will be previewed, revised, edited, and refined by the leaders

Often times history is studied regionally and we do not get a big picture of what is going on in the world at the exact same time. The year 1000BC marks a pivotal period in human history, witnessing the rise of urban civilizations and emergence of key religious and cultural developments. Students will gain a snapshot view of the world and create hands on historical experiences in this class.

3rd Hour Class Options (1:00 - 1:55)
Musical Theater - Mystery Dinner Theater
(Middle/High)
The students will be given instruction on how to write, plan, and perform an interactive mystery dinner! From the brainstorming to the meal they will be in charge. They will be guided through the process step by step using the textbook Staging an Interactive Mystery Play by Justine Jones and Mary Ann Kelly. Students will receive a script that they write, and a t-shirt. Students will learn how to do physical comedy, interact with an audience, and how to stay incharacter. They will perform a 1 hour mystery show during a meal (show TBD) with 2-3 performances on the same days and times as the intermediate class. This will be “ A Night of Mystery” (Title subject to change). Dates and times of performances TBD. This class WILL have some after chat rehearsals and WILL require a 2 week Crunch/Tech practice (We will have at least 3 practices each of the 2 weeks and then the shows). Crunch dates and times are TBD.
**All students are required to participate in brainstorming and creating/producing the show, but NOT everyone has to write the script. There will be parameters the students will have to stay within, and ALL aspects of this show will be previewed, revised, edited, and refined by the leaders
